Ron and Prop K
March 9, 2017 Meeting
The club received an update on Proposition K which will be on the April ballot to increase the property tax in Kirkwood y 46 cents per $100 assessed valuation - - - an approximate 10% increase. Ron, a parent of Kirkwood school students and an employee of Ralston Purina provided the overview and handled Q&A's.
Feb. 23, 2017 Meeting
During our Feb. 23rd meeting, club donations were made to (1) Kirkwood Brownies Club; and (2) the GiFT (Giving is a Family Tradition) organization.
(1) Tanya Kraft represented the Kirkwood Brownie Club as their leader.
(2) Jennifer Krassinger, Founder and Executive Director for GiFT, represented the organization - - - a not for profit entity that provides support for families with children in neo-natal care as well as bereavement support. GiFT works with families that have children in ICU units in Children's Hospital and Cardinal Glennon. Last year, 24 families received support from GiFT.
Our guest speaker for the evening was Alvin Miller, a Kirkwood High School alumnus, who reviewed his experiences as a KHS school athlete, college football at Notre Dame and professional football in the NFL. Alvin's daughter is currently a senior at KHS and plays on the girl's basketball team. His family has been a repeat customer at the club's Tree Lot!
